Orders typically take 2-5 days and will usually ship on
Thursday/Friday when the artwork and payments are received
by Monday/Tuesday of that week. Artwork or file errors will
delay printing and ship time.
Our goal at 29centPosters.com is to make sure the posters you expect are
the posters we print. When there is a difference on printed posters, 95%
of the time it can be traced to layout or file problems. We have a
friendly, experienced staff who will work with you to make sure your
files and the final posters are exactly what you want. So if you have
any questions, please
contact us before files are sent.
Guidelines
Artwork should be submitted on CD-R or via FTP or email for 11 x 17 or
smaller.
Quark or Illustrator files are recommended. For Illustrator or
Illustrator EPS files, convert all fonts to outlines. For Quark files,
include all fonts that appear in the document. Specify the version and
platform your using when sending your files.
Include 1/8" bleed. For CMYK printing, use a rich black.
Also, include
trapping where applicable.
Overprint all blacks, do not drop out blacks.
This means black lettering and fonts are on top of the color parts.
(When you look at the individual CMYK separations you should NOT see any
white spacing where black text will be.) All of this is very important,
contact us if you have questions here.
Artwork may be submitted as a final composite PDF for film output, but
you should contact us first for approval. You must specify the colors
(CMYK or Black) to output when sending composite PDFs for film output.
The layout programs we accept are QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
Photoshop and InDesign. You can upload files (FTP), submit files on a
CD-ROM, ZIP, or by email. If mailing a disk, label it with your company
name and phone number. (Disks will not be returned make backup
copies.)
Proofs
We can do a reasonable job of matching user supplied PDFs of your error
free file with the final printed posters. Please note that colors vary
somewhat within a poster run (printing is analog vs. computer files
which are digital) and that CMYK printed colors vary from RGB screen
output colors (see below). Please proofread all your layouts carefully
as you are fully responsible for typos, omissions, etc. When reviewing
your own PDF of your artwork, you should also do a PDF of each CMY&K
color separation (4 PDFs) and proof them individually to catch any
additional errors or software omission. If you prefer a poster proof
prior to printing, we can produce and mail to you a color Epson proof
for your review. The cost for this proof is $45 including priority
mailing and will show exact printing layout and positioning and is
reasonably color-accurate. You should always provide us an emailed PDF
proof with your order for reference. The turnaround time for a proof is
one to several days and will add to the turnaround time on the overall
order. Please plan date sensitive materials well in advance. Printed
turn-around times do not begin until you have approved a final proof, if
requested. You are responsible for the graphic design and layout of your
project and files.
Quark Files
Files created in Quark must be submitted as native files.
Do not save your file as a Quark EPS
All full color must be created from CMYK, not RGB or Pantone. Black and
white posters should be set up as a single color with grayscale
not rich
black or CMYK black.
Make sure the document has an 1/8" bleed all around and 1/8" type
safety. This means on an 11 x 17 poster, the "live" area, or
final area is 11" by 17" but the overall layout image/file
should be 11 1/4" by 17 1/4" (1/8" added all around the live
area that will be trimmed off when the final posters are cut). Important
images, words and text (photo credits, logos, etc.) should be within
1/8" of the outside 11" x 17" edges, or within the 10 3/4"
by 16 3/4" primary image area.
Photoshop Files
We prefer TIFF files with no compression created in Photoshop.
Keep images at 100% and at 300 dpi.
RGB is video color and represents the full color spectrum. CMYK is
printed color and is not capable of vibrant colors. Convert your RGB
files to CMYK before sending them to us. We are not responsible for
color shifts between RGB and CMYK.
Make sure the document has an 1/8" bleed all around.
Avoid complicated clipping paths, as this can lead to output problems.
For Illustrator files, convert all fonts to "outline" or "artwork" and
save as an EPS file-do not leave fonts imbedded in these files.
Always include the original files for all placed art, matching the
specifications shown here for that file type.
Be sure to include bleed/safety in your Illustrator/Freehand files (if
applicable).
Fonts
All SCREEN and PRINTER fonts used in your document must be included on
your disk or emailed/uploaded with your order.
If you bold or italicize fonts in Quark, you should print them out to
see if the effect will work. All fonts will appear bold or italic on the
screen, but a print-out will show whether they will eventually print
that way or not. If the effect doesn't work, you should use the
style-specific version of the font you want (example: Helvetica Bold
Oblique).
To create font shadows duplicate dark text (in front) and a place a
lighter shade of the same text behind it.
If the fonts you're using do not offer the styles you desire, choose
another font.
Do not put all fonts in one suitcase.
